First of all, I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to you, John, and your children on the passing of Kathy. I was saddened to learn of her passing. Even though I only got to know Kathy for a short time, it was evident that she was a wonderful and caring human being. When I first met Kathy, she wasn't speaking but I remember telling her that she said MORE with her eyes and facial expression than most can say with words. Last Tuesday, when I was at the end of my shift and going to be off for a few days, I went in to sit with Kathy for a few minutes on my way home. Her eyes were closed but as soon as I touched her hand, her eyes opened up, she looked at me and gave me the biggest smile, then grabbed my hand. I have to tell you that in my nursing career, we call that a precious gem. It's something that I'll never forget. Kathy is one of those people who leaves a lasting impression on those around her even only after a brief encounter. She was so fortunate to have you, John, and your children who supported her, sat with her, and showed her so much love and respect. That, in itself, would have been a comfort to her. Again, I would like to extend my condolences and know that we are thinking of you and your family at this difficult time. Mike Baglole LPN Unit 7, Rehab unit, Queen Elizabeth Hospital
