Ross Ellison Howie was one of my second cousins. I never had the opportunity to meet him, but we were able to correspond through letters over the years as I discovered more about my family genealogy. He helped me in so many ways with all his work and dedication to preserve the Howie Family Gravesites. He was the fourth generation Canadian of the Howie's that came from Aberdeen Scotland. His father was William Robert Howie (1871 - 1944) , his grandfather, Thomas Howie (1831 - 1902) , his 1X great-grandfather, James Howie (1789 - 1880) arrived to Montreal in 1820 and married Jane Ross from whom he gets his name.
