I was very saddened to find out that Robie had recently passed away. I knew Robie for all my professional career (>30 years) , and through our common scientific efforts and studies in the Arctic. He was so knowledgeable and able to clearly communicate information and to people at many different levels of scientific understanding. He was a great scientist as well as a great person. I learned much from him over the years. Such a tragic loss. I extend my sincere condolances to his family and friends, and convey my support in this time of great grief.
