I met my dear friend Betty at the neighbourhood corner store in the Fall of 1995. She had heard I'd moved to the CedarYellowpoint through the informal women's network that exists just about everywhere. I shared many interesting times with her and her courtly and kind husband Seymour. I discovered she was a force to be reckoned with (as befits someone who made her entrance into this world during a tornado) . She was a a champion of human rights, and left this world on the same day she watched as a Black/East Asian woman was inaugurated as VP of the United States. Few people of my acquaintance have had a lasting positive effect on my life. She was at the top of my list.
