We are saddened to hear of Robert's illness and passing. He wasn't long catching up with Vera.
We stopped in to see him in late July and found him enjoying some sunshine at the back door. We had a great chat about old times and milling lumber. His passion hadn't changed much.
Robert and Vera were always our connection to the Corkum family and South Shore roots. Their connections to Mum and Dad were very strong and continued after Dad passed away and our family slowly became more distant from Corkum roots. Robert and Vera would visit and join their "New Brunswick family", Robert teasing my kids, just like a brother.
Robert and Vera were so friendly and caring, supporting our mom and even developing close ties with mum's church friends. It was impossible to meet them and not love them.
When mom started down the hard road of dementia and she believed she was winning millions, Robert and Vera were there to support her in her upset. Cards proving that relationship of friendship, love and care, continued to grace moms table well beyond her ability to understand what they meant. But her family understood. And we grieve with you.
What great parents!
