I first met Mary at the age of 23 years when I had left England filled with the zest and determination to fulfill my dream and live in the Canadian West. Strange in one way for a girl who grew up on the edge of Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire. Mary and I met during my first three weeks in Calgary when I and another English girl went to stay on a Guest Ranch near Calgary, which was, at that time called Stampede Ranch. Mary had obtain a job as a cook at the ranch. Our English backgrounds and also the fact that we were both born on a farm in England, linked us together immediately. We have kept in touch over the years and her passing is equal to part of me having departed. To where? Well, that I cannot answer that. But one day I will be able to answer. Patricia Drysdale C.
