So sorry to hear of Mike's passing. As a person who viewed the design process as a problem solving process, it was a great pleasure to attack problems with him. Teaching the process to students, I never had the satisfaction of working with anyone that fully understood the process, until I met Mike. One of the experiences was designing a hatch for, what else, a boat.
The two of us, with one pencil and one piece of paper, passed the pencil back and forth and added to the sketch until we had a finished design.
I wish we could have done more. To Coleen and children, my sympathies, but also recognizing that you must have a storehouse of wonderful memories of your husband and father.
