My deepest condolences go out to Rita's family, to Madeleine and the numerous friends and students who feel, like I do, that their lives were better for knowing Rita. I have fond memories of Rita, her kindness, generosity and her great sense of humour. She was an excellent teacher and had a keen understanding of people which made her an excellent leader. From our first meeting in 1972 as teachers in the new Polyvalente to well into our retirement years we shared many great conversations, parties, courses, friends, as well as a memorable trip to Scotland.
