I worked with Maurice at Maritime Electric in the late 1960s. He was a fine gentleman who loved to laugh, play pranks, and was always looking for ways to show his precious Ruth how much he loved her. When Maurice learned that I wrote a bit of poetry, he would ask me to compose a poem for his wife for different occasions; he'd tell me his thoughts and I'd put them into words. Birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas....or sometimes, for no particular reason, Maurice would say, "Donna, I need a poem." I was still young and single in those long-ago days, and it was inspiring to see such devotion between a man and his wife. Ruth knew I did the penmanship - we joked about it, but she really appreciated her husband's expressions of love. Many years have passed since then, but I always remembered Maurice and his kind and thoughtful ways. I extend my deepest sympathy to his family in your great loss.
