I was friends with Karen when her family moved to Petrolia and she went to Central school. I loved her big family and was over there a lot, as she was over at my parents'home. We stayed for dinner at each others', had sleepovers and shared a love of horses. We even went to the race track and took one of the horses out when no one was around. Once one stepped on Karen's sandal and broke the strap! Another time we went to a pony farm just outside of Petrolia and took out ponies with no one supervising. We took turns getting on, bareback. I got thrown off one pony one time. Both of us thought it was great fun! We had many other adventures like going to the tile yard and a few of us made a little bonfire. One of brought a pan, one some bacon and another one, some beans, which we sneaked out of our homes. We were very adventurous in those days. Sure will miss Karen, even tho I hadn't seen her in years. I always hoped we would get together one day but it wasn't to be. Maybe we'll see each other in heaven, Karen.
