This photo of Pookie captures, for me, his spirit of kindness, humour and thoughtful determination. From times spending New Years Eve with Pookie and Eileen and the boys and Lisa in Montreal through to their return to PEI, his building a lovely house, his growing a business from scratch using his knowledge and hands on ability, he was an example of determination. Yet "Pookie" was always there for meals with family, had time to sit and chat. I never heard him or saw him express frustration with a task or person. He was seemingly "relaxed" regardless the job or conversation topic. Though I and Betty-Ann, his niece and my wife, did not see him of late due to our distance here in Toronto, he called last Christmas. Betty-Ann and I were so pleased he thought of us as we often thought of him. We think of him and the family now of course, and he will be in our thoughts whenever we think of times on PEI. I hope I can use the lessons he showed, of how generosity of spirit in life, makes for a positive life and leaves a lasting memory others like I, feel so blessed to have felt..........Jan Michael Wildeman
