Maxine was a person who made you happy as soon as you saw her. Her grace and warmth were always a source of amazement to us. Conversation with her was not only pleasant but also interesting and stimulating, and she could be direct as well as sensitive. Being her dinner guest was a lesson in the sort of hospitality and elegance that put visitors at ease and made them feel privileged to be in her house. In fact Maxine was such a human being that she made everyone feel privileged to be with her. Please accept our deepest condolences, Jim, Maya, and Dunning.
