Dear Colin, Sylvia and Bryan, We read in Guelph Today that your mother, Esme, passed away late in October. That was very sad news to read. We enjoyed many years living next door before she and your Dad moved from Maple Street. Your mother was a lovely neighbour. Years ago the fence between us came down and often, when I would be out in the yard, your mother would walk over and we’d take some time for a chat and a laugh … or I would join her in her beautifully landscaped yard to sit on the stone bench. Often one or more of the little cats in the neighbourhood would join us. She lovely the kitties and they loved her. I remember her excitement, Sylvia, when she found out she was to become a Grandma! She was delighted and after Nathan was born, very often he was the subject of our chats in the yard. She was always very proud of Nathan’s progress and achievements. Her yard was always, by far, the loveliest on Maple Street! She certainly had a green thumb! Not only was she my go-to expert for any gardening question I might have, I know other neighbours who benefited much by her eye for which plants looked best in a situation or other gardening issues. We always remember those days living side by side with fondness. At this time of loss, we feel for you deeply in your bereavement. We hope the lovely memories you cherish of your Mother will bring you comfort in the days ahead. Our sincere sympathy, Walter, Hazel and family, #159
