I had the pleasure of knowing John while working together at Sprint Canada in the 1990's. We ended up in the same department. I became his manager, while he became my mentor.

We had memorable experiences together including working on a new switch site in the UK, allowing us to tour the Thames together on a boat ride while he reminisced about days of old where he grew up. We walked through Hyde Park and had hot totties to fight the damp chill.

I also had the pleasure of having tea on his sailboat that he lived on in Vancouver. We worked on rewarding projects and talked about life - its challenges and the value of family. He was one of the most adventurous and enthusiastic people I've had the pleasure of knowing.

I shall miss you, John. Godspeed and sail on..
