James loved local history with a passion. Over the decades he collected hundreds of stories, documents, photographs, and books. In his humble way, he became the person you went to when you needed information about the Friesens or about Rosthern or about a lot more. We at the Mennonite Historical Society of Saskatchewan (MHSS) were fortunate to have him on our board for a number of years. His gentle demeanour and his unassuming behaviour have endeared him to us all. Jake Buhler
