If someone asked me to describe Phil Murphy I would say, "kind, caring, humourous, and generous". He was very aware of people and their needs. He would laugh at the very thought of someone being happy, and his laughter was infectious. He would give without question and ask or expect nothing in return. We would often meet at Conner Tire for coffee and a doughnut, the doughnuts or some treat supplied by him. Phil would say "I'm going to Parry Hoot. John would you like to go for a ride". We would get into his big Suburban and head off. About 15 minutes up the road he would say "would you like to drive?"; I wouldn't have the truck off the shoulder and back onto the highway and Phil would be fast asleep. He would wake up some distance up the road and point out some landmark that only he knew or cared about; now how did he do that? Phil was one of a kind and kind to to everyone. He always referred to me in a formal way; "Mr. Kerteston, how are you and how is the Mrs.?" We will miss you!
