F Frank YakimcHuk August 12, 2021 at 10:45 PM Ken Clark was a great athlete, I was one of his teammates at Saint Mary’s University between a 1971-1975. I first played Offensive Center as an true 18 year old rookie directly out of Saint Patrick’s High School in Halifax. So I became Kenny’s helper as I learnt the art of the long snap for punts and the shorter snaps for place kicks. I also remember making long runs covering his enormous punts, many that got us out of trouble and some actually so long they were records. One hot and dusty day at Acadia University in Wolfville, NS, he lunched a punt that ended up to be the longest kick in the AUAA history, I was running beside the late Carroll Morgan who had been the Heavy Weight Boxing Champion of Canada and a Member of the Canadian Olympic Team at Munich Germany in 1972, I think it reached about 80 yards. By 1973, I was moved to Offensive Tackle having matured from that 18 year Rookie Center to a full sized AUAA All Star, we beat the SIr Wilfred Laurier Ontario University Champion, we jammed up their “Wishbone Offence” with Kenny scoring a TD and keeping us out of trouble with his punts, an unlikely hero for us was “Big Daddy” Dave White who after he fell on a fumble in the Sir Wilfred Laurier End Zone with the game clock running out, Saint Mary’s was heading to tge CNE in Toronto for the CIAU Championship against McGill University. “Kenny was co-captain and MVP of the 1973 Vanier Cup team with a performance that also included a record 86-yard punt. He also set numerous receiving records in what was then a shorter, 6-game season. Small wonder that when his college career ended at Saint Mary's, he was a highly rated by Professional Leagues” Condolences to Kenny’s Family and Friends, it was my pleasure to be a part of his illustrious University Career, God Bless the Fallen, Godspeed.
