Dear family of Uncle Bob:

I am so sorry for the loss of your father, grandfather.

I had the great honor of spending many of my formative years in his presence on the farm with grandma and grandpa. Uncle John had flown the nest quite a bit earlier that Bob and it’s not so easy to separate their antics, as there were many.

I don’t know which one coined me as ‘slugger’ but it was definitely Uncle Bob who turned it into ‘slugger the bugger’. And I loved it.

He used to sing and play guitar so freely and it was so easy to join in.

I remember him always laughing and teasing. I don’t remember him working much because it always looked like play.

Uncle Bob was the best ‘male role model’ any young girl could imagine having. My life would never have been the same had I not had him to move into a future with.

I always missed Uncle Bob when I grew up and moved far away but every time we did cross paths it was so thrilling to be ‘slugger the bugger’ again. It’s like time had stood still and none of us had gotten older.

I am so grateful I had the opportunity for some of my children to play with him when he took us back to the farm a few years ago. I have so many fond memories of being on the farm and I model my life today from those times.

Uncle Bob you live on in our hearts and I promise to carry on loving life the way you taught me.
Love to you all. I’m sorry we couldn’t be with you. Life is a little cruel that way.
