Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Norval James Agnew (Jim to his friends and family) peacefully at his home in Lake Suzy, Florida on May 24, 2023 with his beloved wife Sharyl (or Lizzie as he called her) by his side.  Born in 1947, Jim lived his childhood on the farm with his parents Norval and Jean and his four siblings ((Lois (Ross), Linda, Janice (Luther) and Glen).  Jim's life changed forever when he married Sharyl in 1969 and had 2 children (Jeff and Jennifer (Mike)).  The 4GNU's (terrible license plate) lived in Erin until Jim and Sharyl took the opportunity to move to Clayton, North Carolina where they would eventually retire and head south to their oasis in Florida.  Jim's greatest joys came later in life when his grandkids Zach and Sophie arrived, where he taught them the fine art of teasing and they tried to teach him (unsuccessfully) how to use technology.  Jim's perfect day would have been a round of golf with the men's league, a hockey game (with, of course, a visit to the penalty box), wings and a cold beer, a visit to the water with Sharyl, watching TV in the garage followed by a great big family dinner.  He probably would have complained about it but secretly loved every minute of it.  That special glint in Jim's eye will be missed by all but will remain in our hearts forever.

A Celebration Of Life will be held at a later date where we can share our stories of this amazing man.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to Tidewell Hospice – tidewellfoundation.org/donate/

Sharyl and family, it is with great sadness that were are posting these remarks because you have lost the love of your life. We shared so many special times with you and Jim while living four houses down the street from you in Clayton, NC. Golf, of course, would be at the top of the memory list. Especially fun, were the couples myrtle beach outings. There was never a doubt that Jim's love for his Lizzie would be eternal. May he rest in peace and may his family find comfort in knowing that his was a life well lived.
