To Marianne, Tommy and family So sorry to hear of Aunt Claire’s passing. Know you must be heartsick at this time. We are sending our love and prayers across the bridge to you all. We Whelan kids have such great memories of our annual summer visits to the island as we grew up. It was a big trip for us back in those days. So much laughter and fun to be had when we got together in Rocky Point, or various other aunt and uncles homes, the cottage in Stanhope, or at summer family reunions at Brackley. Your mom and dad were integral to many of those memories. From dad and your dad squeezing in a game of golf at rocky point while mom had a great visit with your mom, to the trips to the racetrack, to the first time for many of us to dig for muscles, or maybe it was clams? (also at Rocky point) , taking the ferry back and forth to town, to simply sitting down for a beautifully cooked home - made meal in your family home! Great memories filled with laughter and fun. Your folks were always truly interested in what was going on in our lives! In later years, the visits to the island, or those when family came to Saint John to visit with us, were for various reason, some happy and some sad…but always based on love/support for/of family…with some shopping thrown in. In these last few years we so admired your mom for the grace and dignity in how she faced her trial…the loss of her vision. Her faith and your family’s support certainly helped her meet that challenge. Your mom was amazing! May great memories support you these next days John, Beth, Anne Marie and Tom Whelan
