I was saddened to hear of Chuck's passing, and would like to express my condolences to all family members.
I was principal of Ripley Central School, and was fortunate enough to work with Chuck as my superintendent for several years. I recall one visit, the morning after we lost in a championship fastball game, in which I was the pitcher. We were odds on favorites to win & had a celebration planned, but we lost & many of us "Downed Our Sorrows". I made it to school in rough shape, and when Chuck arrived he took one look at me and said "I heard the score", and I think you should go home & get some rest". Apparently Chuck pitched fastball and went through a similar experience, so he was very understanding!!
One other time he came down for a visit, while I was teaching a Phys. Ed. class, in which the kids were playing floor hockey. One of the teams was short a player, so I joined in, not noticing that Chuck had entered the gym. When the bell went I noticed him sitting on the stage watching, and his message to me was "You Mean We Pay You To Do This" in a joking way, as, I was being a kid myself and having lots of fun playing!1
In short--"He Was A Good Man", and I always respected him and enjoyed working with him.
