Obituary

Peacefully at home in London on Monday July 25, 2016 in her 94th year. Wife of the late Ludwik Jakubowski. Dear mother of Visia Plum of Mississauga and Alison Jakubowski of London. Loving grandmother of Michael Plum (Mary) of Mississauga and Steven Plum of Toronto. Predeceased by her parents Teofil and Maria Francke and her 3 brothers and 2 sisters in Poland. Mother was born in the city of Kalisz, Poland in 1923. After surviving the devastations of WWII, mother, father and Visia emigrated to the peace and freedom of Canada. She worked at St. Mary's Hospital, London for 33 years as a RNA. She was well respected by her patients and peers for the kindness and integrity she brought to her work. She worked energetically to foster cross cultural understanding, being a founding member of the Polish Canadian Women's Federation and a long standing member of the London Folk Arts Council. Whatever she had, she willingly shared with others and was a model of generosity to her family. Cremation has taken place. A memorial liturgy will be celebrated.
