I came to know Vince at a place we both looked forward to going to As often as possible up at Dyers Bay.
My wife and I had been going up there for many years prior to my inlaws purchasing a place there.
From the time I was able to go up and actually have a place to stay, Vince was always a presence along the road to the cottage. I was always curious about that man who made all that cool metal art. Right away I made a point of stopping in to check it all out.
Vince was always busy working away at some thing or another but always took the time to share a few words.
As time went on, and Everytime I went up there, I looked forward to those conversations. He always was there with that big smile of his and man those HANDS of his were unreal, and yet he called me big guy. Now I'm sure I wasn't the only big guy to him but it felt great to hear from him. Over the few short years that we spoke briefly each time I became more fond of those conversations and Vince became a kind of father figure to me.
For me Vince was an easy kindred connection and talking to Vince always made my trips up to Dyers Bay a part of my whole experience.
I will always miss seeing Vince on that bend in the road and having HIM call me big guy.
The Dyers Bay experience will never be the same again for me. I'll miss him always.
