There was a feeling of sadness and shock when I heard the news of John death. I had a chance to have a long talk with him at the reunion and we shared laughs and experiences from high school, including me peeling the oranges on the bench while he made his mark on the basketball court. He was a real gentleman and will truly be missed by many. RIP my friend.

I was saddened and shocked to learn of John’s passing. Family was always so important to John, and he certainly was important to my family.
I’m not sure when I first met John, but I do remember him inviting me to a volleyball workshop at DRHS one summer when I was still in high school. He was an elite college player and was coaching and organizing a workshop/tournament. I had limited talent, and was certainly height challenged, but John was a patient coach and helped me improve my game.
Of course, he was tremendously important to our family. His easy going nature, his sense of humour and his ability to connect made him special. He was part of every special family event. He loved Dalhousie, and I looked forward to seeing him every time I went home.
John knew how to be a friend. I will miss him. As I know you will. My thoughts are with you.
