Monday was a sad day for me, as my dad passed away, and as I count you, dear reader, among the faithful, I thought I should let you know where I am presently, and beg you to say a prayer for the safe journey of my dad to the "next part of life"; and a prayer that those he has left behind will honour his prayers for those he leaves behind...he has family- wise, left behind his wife of over 68 years of faithful marriage, his son. and me his daughter, and the extending generations of his grandchildren. But his life touched and effected many while he served God, as he understood Him, here on earth.

My father Gord, was remarkable in that at 16 years of age, he suddenly became the "man of his family", when his own dad died, and he started to help his widowed mother put food on the table, though the jobs available to him at that age in his life offered meager financial reward (newspaper delivery, fishing, wild-edible hunting) . He was a great church-man for his beloved church, Holy Trinity, Ajax... and was grateful for the male leadership the church offered, which replaced that of his dad's, all the rest of his life. He loved the scouting movement.

World war 2, also, overshadowed his life but he was able to turn that to his advantage by getting a good education courtesy of the war efforts...studying to be responsible for quality control in the metallurgical and chemical testing of the produced munitions, both artillery shells and bombs, that Canada was responsible for supplying to the allied efforts against the Islamo-Nazi threat to the very survival (of Hitler and the mufti's supposedly MURDER-ABLE "weak and rejected": the Jews, the Christians who loved the persecuted Jews, the Gypsies, the maimed, the homosexuals, the mentally challenged, the innocent and basically the "little guy" that is those feeling of " little stature and standing" etc) of the world.

Dad continued to use his war-derived education to find employment in both the metallurgical and chemical industries for the rest of his life. As part of his understanding of being "a good provider", he generously shared his education by sponsoring work-terms for Canadian students from Ryerson (where he got his war-time education, and he was a war-time student alumnus) using his position to help other students have a work- term in industry, as lead chemist for the company he worked for most of his life...Brystol-Myers.

In his own peculiar way, Gord was a man of God, a man who impacted the world around him, seeking not his own fame, but praying that the glory of God would shine through him to enable the "gifts of God" he noticed others should /or could be sharing, always keeping in mind the sake of a "world without end". It was a privilege to be his daughter. *:) happy
