March 1 2020
It has been a year now that you passed dad. It is so hard to believe. I know you were more than ready to go at the end and I was blessed to be there with you holding your right hand and mom holding your left hand when you took your final breath. You were not alone in that room, besides mom and I your sister Margaret was there and mom's sister Claudette and my wonderful husband Mike. Paul and Maureen had been there and returned shortly after.
At the time, I asked myself, how do you say goodbye to a girl's first love. The one who fed her, the one who made her smile, the one who spent time with her, her one and only dad. But, then I was reminded by a friend who had also lost her dad and she said that you don't say goodbye, you just say see you soon and continue to be the daughter that has made him proud all her life. So instead of crying, I am warmed by my memories with you.
Forever in my thoughts and in my heart.
Rest in Peace Dad
