It is with profound sadness that the Paul Family announces the passing of Mr. Yvon Paul of Vanier, Ontario, on December 19, 2024, at the age of 98. He was the beloved husband for over 74 years of Murielle (nee Brunet) and dear father of Suzanne (Michel Jolicoeur), Marc (Pauline), Philippe (Francine Charron). Proud grandfather of Derrick (Christine), Vincent (Natasha), Amelia (Stéphane), Dominic, Stéphane, Jaline (Brandon) and great-grandfather of Maryse, Alexi and Laurent. He will be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Claudette Deschamps (Paul) and his brother-in-law Gilles Brunet (Réjeanne) as well as many nephews, nieces and friends.

Yvon was born in Bourget, Ontario on March 1st, 1926. He was the son of the late Pierre Paul and the late Marie Hogue. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters: Donat, Urbain, Annette Gauthier, Rhéa Viau, Rhéal, Alice Éthier, Doris, Lorette Roberts, Yvette Gravel, Albertine Zipes and Aldéo.

Yvon was a career police officer with the city of Vanier. He retired as an Inspector in 1984 and enjoyed a long and fulfilling retirement. Yvon and Murielle loved to travel especially to warmer climates during the winter. They enjoyed family dinners as well as gatherings at the cottage to celebrate special occasions. He remained an enthusiastic hockey fan throughout his life and he was always ready for a good game of cards.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Montfort Residence for their care and compassion.

For those who wish, donations to the Alzheimer's Society may be made in Mr. Paul's memory.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Notre-Dame de Lourdes Church, 435 Montreal Road, Ottawa, Ontario.

The family will receive condolences at the church prior to the service beginning at 10:30 a.m.

C'est avec une profonde tristesse que la Famille Paul vous fait part du décès de M. Yvon Paul de Vanier, Ontario, survenu le 19 décembre 2024, à l'âge de 98 ans. Il laisse dans le deuil Murielle (née Brunet) son épouse bien-aimée pour plus de 74 ans de mariage ainsi que ses trois enfants: Suzanne (Michel Jolicoeur), Marc (Pauline), Philippe (Francine Charron), ses petits-enfants: Derrick (Christine), Vincent (Natasha), Amelia (Stéphane), Dominic, Stéphane, Jaline (Brandon) et ses arrière-petits-enfants: Maryse, Alexi et  Laurent. Il laisse également sa belle-soeur Claudette Deschamps (Paul) et son beau-frère Gilles Brunet (Réjeanne) ainsi que plusieurs neveux, nièces et ami(e)s.

Yvon est né le 1er mars 1926 à Bourget Ontario. Il était le fils de feu Marie Hogue et de feu Pierre Paul. Il fut prédécédé par ses frères et soeurs : Donat, Urbain, Annette Gauthier, Rhéa Viau, Rhéal, Alice Éthier, Doris, Lorette Roberts, Yvette Gravel, Albertine Zipes et Aldéo.

Yvon a fait carrière comme policier pour la ville de Vanier. Il a pris sa retraite comme Inspecteur en 1984 et a pu profiter d'une longue retraite. Yvon et Murielle ont beaucoup voyagé surtout vers les pays chauds. Ils aimaient les soupers de famille ainsi que les rencontres au chalet pour célébrer les occasions spéciales. Il est demeuré un grand partisan de hockey et il était toujours prêt pour une partie de jeu de cartes.

La famille désire remercier le personnel de la Résidence Montfort pour leur compassion et leurs bons soins.

À la mémoire de M. Paul, vos marques de sympathie peuvent se traduire par un don à la Société d'Alzheimer.
