Patrick Doyle, or whom I called Popeye as he says in his obituary was very special to me. I met him when I was 4 days from turning 6, our first meal together was a bowl of hot, carrot soup. Dad and I laughed as we fed each other and I got soup in his small beard but he didn't mind. Some of the best memories are from when I was little because I was energetic and had no filter, and was a DIVA. Before dinner, Patrick Doyle (my soon-to-be father (at 6) ) and I were in my bedroom where my light up piano was and I was showing him it...when Justine Kruz (my adopted mom/ his wife of 14 years) called us down for dinner, but we were finishing a conversation about being happy about getting to know each other and be a family, and my mom goes "NOW, Patrick!" and little me goes "I so HATE it when SHE talks to you like THAT". From then on my dad was my joy, he was my favourite as a kid,. My dad spent car trips to school teaching me Spanish which is a big part of my heritage that I never got to experience from biological family members, and rockijng out to Bob Marley. Over the years I shared SOME interest in SOME of his music, I LOVED Bob Marley, Janis Joplin, Les Cowboy Fringuants and more. My dad always believed in me, has always been my number one fan. No matter how many fights we had when I was young, no matter how mean I was to him, If someone hurt me and I was crying about it he'd look at me smile and say "Do you want me to go n'punch em'in the nose?". I'll forever remember the trips to dairy queen, and tim hortons, after school. I will miss being hypnotized and meditating and reading the Tao Te Ching, which he gifted me last christmas. It's nice that he lasted not far off of exactly a month. We all struggeled, But he was a very loved man and he will be dearly missed. R.I.P Popeye, I love you to the moon and back, and the last number of counting. ~Rosie-o Posie-o
