Sincere and heartfelt condolences to all of you. Joe was not only a dedicated husband and father, but also a good neighbour and friend for many years, a patient ball coach and a loyal Beaver Group supporter, most definitely the Pettipas kids’ favorite bus driver, and a co-worker at Antigonish Education Centre at one time. I’d like to share two memories with you. First of all, let me explain that I’m NOT a fan of mice! Early one school morning many years ago, I called your place, frantic, because a mouse was in a trap, very much still alive and desperately trying to get free. I was terrified LOL! Within a few minutes, Joe was there, with a big smirk on his face, to “dispose” of the little critter, and he was forever my hero for doing that! Joe had a great way with kids, especially those with special needs. He tormented and talked to them, and they absolutely adored him! I remember a little girl who would always greet Joe with, “Hi Dad!”, and he’d ask her, “Is Debbie bugging you?”, to which she always replied, “Yes! Debbie’s bugging me!”. She wasn’t much of a talker, but Joe could always get her going, and she loved the attention! Keeping you all in my thoughts at this difficult time.
