A TRIBUTE TO HONOR THE MEMORY OF: FATHER VINCENT VAN ZUTPHEN It was with deep sadness and yet an overwhelming sense of peace that we learned of the death of Father Vincent. We, as a community, gathered to remain in solidarity with family, extended family and friends of Father Vincent the evening of February 22, 2022. This was a time of prayer for Father Vincent and an effort to express through prayer and reflection how our lives and no doubt so many lives have been touched by his committed life. Scriptural readings and prayers formed the foundation for our time together. The focus of these readings was on the hope of the resurrection as expressed in John 11:25-26: “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.” Father Vincent lived a committed life- dedicated to the Mission of the Church and always with a great solidarity with his family and extended family – nieces and nephews. Father Vincent heard and answered many calls throughout his life. We shall mention only three calls. • The call to the priesthood. • The call to teaching. • The call to leave his Parish work this past Fall and accept the call to embrace cancer courageously during the evening of his life. We were deeply touched by the ease with which Father Vincent made this transition. He accepted sickness and continued to show a great love for his family and extended family. During Father Vincent’s last days, family continuously surrounded him. His death came peacefully. Father Vincent was ready to go home. We ended our evening with an emphasis on celebrating the life of Father Vincent by enjoying treats along with the appropriate beverage. May Father Vincent and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen! The Sisters of Holy Redeemer Convent
