Maxine Elizabeth LeBlanc

A message from her English Family

It was a shock to receive the last e-mail from Maxine on the 27th December 2015 concerning her health asking us to allow her family to come to terms with the diagnosis that her cancer had returned.

Having had no further news we sent her a birthday card in February in the hope that she may have stabilized.

She was born in Leeds her parents being Chester Elmer Collison a Canadian Soldier and Elizabeth Ellen Horner (my father’s younger sister) . She was always proud to be a ‘Yorkshire Lass’ as well as being Canadian, and on a visit to England wanted to visit the Bronte’ s home and also go to Thirsk to the vets featured in ‘All Creatures Great and Small’.

On that occasion she wanted some silver spoons as small presents and we stopped at Knaresborough, she was surprised that the castle was built in 12th century and whilst Canada had been populated she could not think of a building of that age at home.

She was a very generous person and looked after us on our visits to Canada. She also looked after our daughter Catherine when she arrived in Canada during a year out of University touring the world. Maxine’s last visit to England with Lucien was in 2009 she kept reminding us that it was our turn to visit her. We were last there in May 2004 when the new house was in the planning stage.

She will be greatly missed by us all and our hearts go out to Lucien who is a good friend and Urban and Nicole.

From George and Jean Horner also Catherine and Philip, Christopher and Helen
